Does your insurance agency need A2P 10DLC registration to text clients?

In most cases, yes. If your agency sends texts through software from an ordinary 10-digit local number, US carriers treat those messages as application-to-person traffic. That traffic needs to be registered through The Campaign Registry, and unregistered business texts can be filtered or blocked.

Mach 5 handles A2P 10DLC registration for clients as part of setup. You provide the business details, and we take care of the submission so your follow-up texts are set up properly before they go out.

Mach 5 was built by insurance agent Darren Burch, so the setup starts with the messages agencies actually send: quote follow-up, appointment reminders and renewal check-ins.

What registration involves

Registration has two parts. The brand is your agency: its legal name, tax ID and other business information. The campaign describes what you will send, how people agree to receive your texts and sample messages. Carriers review that information before the number is used for business texting.

Approval time varies. It can take days or longer, depending on the review and on whether the submitted details match your business records. Using your exact legal business name and current website avoids common delays.

Registration is not the same as permission

Registering with carriers does not give you permission to text a particular person. You still need the contact's agreement for the messages you send, and contacts need a way to stop receiving them. Our guide to AI lead follow-up covers how consent affects who your agency can contact.

What we need from you

Have your agency's legal name, tax ID, business address and website ready, along with a clear description of how clients and prospects opt in to texts. We will ask about the kinds of messages you plan to send so the registration matches your actual use.

If you already text from another system, you have two options. We usually recommend a new local number with your area code for texting through Mach 5, registered as part of your setup. If you would rather consolidate systems and keep your current number, we can port it into Mach 5. And if you no longer need the old number, starting fresh is the simpler path.
